Funding worth a total of £19,989.38 was awarded in May to a range of local groups and projects from the St John’s Hill Wind Farm Community Fund.  Due to delays caused by the Covid pandemic, monies from both the 2020 and 2021 fund were allocated.

Quintas Energy, a leading independent renewable energy developer, established the St John’s Hill Windfarm Community Benefit Fund to support local groups and projects. Funding is available for the benefit of not-for-profit groups and organisations in the Community Council areas of Arbuthnott and Catterline, Kinneff and Dunnottar. Administered by Kincardineshire Development Partnership (KDP), applications to the fund are assessed by a Decision-Making Panel made up of representatives from both Community Council areas, and local representatives.  The fund is available annually for the lifetime of the wind farm.

Successful applicants this round included Friends of the Grassic Gibbon Centre, Arbuthnott Church, Arbuthnott Community Council, Kinneff Old Church Preservation Trust Ltd, Catterline School Parent Group and Catterline Coastal Rowing Club.
