The Place Standard Tool

“The Place Standard tool is a simple way for anyone to assess the quality of a place."

"The tool provides a framework to structure conversations about place. It allows people to think about the physical elements of a place (for example its buildings, spaces, and transport links) as well as the social aspects (for example whether people feel they have a say in decision making).

The tool provides prompts for discussions, allowing groups or individuals to consider all the elements of a place in a methodical way.”

These quotes have been taken from Our Place.

KDP can offer help and advice on how to carry out a Place Standard exercise in your community.  The Tool provides prompt questions on a range of issues and  can help to start a conversation within your community. It should give you an overview of the things that are good about your place, and also highlight any challenges. The aim should be to involve as many people locally as you can, in order to make sure all views are heard.

There is also the Place Standard Tool with a climate lens, that helps focus attention on this specific area and a Tool designed specifically for children.
