Round 4 of the Communities Mental Health & Wellbeing Fund for Adults opens this week.
The Fund enables community groups to respond to local mental health and wellbeing challenges and there is £629,749 for distribution to groups and organisations across Aberdeenshire.

The Aberdeenshire Local Action Group is offering advice and support opportunities for:
- Community groups wishing to develop new routes and paths in their local areas
- Business planning and financial consultancy support for third sector organisations, social enterprises and local charities
Applications must be submitted by 20th October 2024.

Nestrans, the Regional Transport Partnership for North East Scotland, with the support of consultants AECOM, is progressing a study into options to improve opportunities for sustainable travel (walking, cycling, wheeling and public transport use – bus and rail) along the strategic transport corridor between Laurencekirk and Aberdeen.
The study is being taken forward in line with Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance (STAG). Work is now progressing on a Detailed Appraisal of the identified options and to support the appraisal they are looking to present and obtain feedback on the options under consideration.
Two drop-in sessions open to the public and interested stakeholders are scheduled to take place, with details of each provided below:
- Wednesday 9th October (16:00-20:00) at Aberdeen Altens Hotel (AB12 3LF)
- Thursday 10th October (15:30-19:30) at The Bettridge Centre in Newtonhill (AB39 3UL).

The consultation will be open until 17:00 on Tuesday 29th October 2024.
Through the Sports Facilities Fund, organisations can apply for funding of up to £200,000 to improve their sports facilities that will benefit the community.
Priority will be given to projects which focus on increasing participation within underrepresented groups in sport such as young people, women and girls, disabled people or those from deprived communities.
The next closing date for applications is the 1st April 2025.

Volunteer with Children’s Hearings Scotland (CHS) and make a difference in your community!
CHS is recruiting for volunteer Panel Members across the country to help support Scotland’s infants, children and young people. They are looking for enthusiastic people aged 18 and over who can show empathy, compassion and great listening skills.
Panel Members are volunteers from local communities who take part in children’s hearings. Their role is to listen and make legal decisions with and for infants, children and young people where there are concerns for their wellbeing. Panel Members ensure that the young person is at the heart of every decision made – because every decision, no matter how big or small, has an impact on the life of the child or young person in the hearing.
CHS offer an extensive training programme with a highly experienced team to support your development, who will help you along your journey in becoming a panel member.

Schools, charitable organisations and other groups in Scotland supporting the education of young people under the age of 21 who have a physical or learning disability or are socially disadvantaged can apply for funding to the John Watson Trust. Whilst the Trust operates primarily within Edinburgh and the Lothians, it may also award grants Scotland-wide to eligible individuals and organisations, including schools, established charitable organisations and other groups supporting disadvantaged young people. Grants can cover expenses such as special or additional tuition, school trips, bus passes, school expenses such as books and equipment, and laptops where there is a special education need.
The next closing date is the 25th October 2024.

Henry Duncan Grants 2024 is for women led organisations in Scotland that support women and girls within their local communities. They will provide unrestricted funding of £40,000 across five years (£8,000 per year) to charities and registered not for profit organisations with a yearly income of up to £250,000. Henry Duncan Grants will support Women Led organisations whose work has a focus on addressing the impacts of gender based violence of women and girls and will support Women Led Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic organisations who are working on issues that impact women and/or girls in their communities.
We anticipate making grants up to a total of £865,000. Approximately 21-25

ENABLE are hosting a free online training session on Neurodiversity and Sport. This training brings a focus to neurodiversity, what this term means and the most common neurodiverse conditions. Taking a closer look at individual neurodiverse conditions will provide the opportunity to identify specific adjustments that could support individuals, particularly young people in sport. You will have the opportunity to apply learning to your own workplace environment and practices, and consider actions to take forward that will help you create a more inclusive workplace.

The Tree Council is inviting applications through the Branching Out Fund. Through the Fund, schools, community groups, parish and town councils, and tree warden networks within the UK, etc can apply for grants of between £250 and £2,500 to get communities and young people up to the age of 21 involved in planting and caring for trees, hedges and orchards.
The funding will cover the cost of trees, hedges and fruit trees; reasonable costs of non-plastic protection and supports, as well as peat-free compost and/or soil improvers.
The closing date for applications is midnight on the 1st December 2024.
